Notetaker Application

Use the form below to sign up to become a potential notetaker for Student Disability Services.

Signing up does not guarantee you a position as a notetaker. SDS will follow up with you if a notetaking opportunity becomes available. Notetakers must be officially hired by SDS before they can begin working.

Please read the following requirements for being a notetaker:
  • Notetakers must be enrolled in the course for which they are taking notes, unless other arrangements have been made with Student Disability Services.
  • SDS cannot compensate notetakers for time in class taking notes if they are already being paid through another department (for example, a student being paid as a TA cannot also be paid as a notetaker in the same class). It is always possible, however, to volunteer as a notetaker!
  • To be considered for a notetaking position, you must be able to complete an I-9 (if you do not already have one on file with Cornell) once you have been made an offer by SDS (the form cannot be completed in advance). See the Student Employment Website for more information. To complete an I-9 form, you must be able to produce original documents. No photocopies can be accepted.
  • Notetakers are expected to have excellent class attendance and notetaking skills.
  • Notes must be submitted within 24 hours of the end of the class for which notes were taken.

Note: If you are student currently receiving accommodations through SDS, you will not be able to submit this application. Please contact sds_notes@cornell.edu and we will help you sign up.
